Apoorva and Phalgun’s wedding was a marriage of different cultures and traditions choreographed to some seriously sick Bollywood tunes.
The three-day wedding was set against the beautiful Lake Pichola at the Oberoi Udayvilas and Trident in Udaipur. The family hosted a reception at the Trident Mumbai for guests who couldn’t make it to Rajasthan.
The Youngsters and family hosted two separate dinners on day one. The couple and their friends sat under our giant ‘neela badal’ installations for a sit-down dinner and speeches.
Don’t miss the super cute notes from Rafa- first brother of Apoorva, guardian and keeper of the Shankar family.
The less formal family came together in the courtyard for a sufi inspired dinner.
A cross cultural wedding is always more fun with two wedding ceremonies. The Telugu style wedding ceremony celebrating Phalgun’s heritage was inspired by everything we love about the south- banana leaves, channapatnam, marigold and Kalamkari.
The coolest sangeet we’ve seen, was hosted in the crescent lawn where guests danced till the morning. Purples and pinks dominated the green lawns.
For the north Indian ceremony, the family wanted a setting that was both organic and still reflected their Bihari heritage. The ceremony took place under a bough-styled structure and the entire space was dotted with madhubani details.
The wedding culminated into an elaborate sit down dinner under the bright Udaipur sky. Tables were set under a canopy of greens and lights.
