DEVIKI + SAHIL
The wedding industry is ever evolving! Due to the current situation, where there is an uncertainty of travel plans, wedding dates, guest number etc, one thing is certain- wherever and whenever it may be, a wedding should be beautiful! We continuously try to challenge ourselves and create super personalized wedding functions. Here’s a story of a brilliantly crafted and meticulously curated DIY wedding!
Deviki flew down from Phoenix, Arizona to meet us and unfortunately, we came to know her wedding dates were clashing with another wedding we were already a part of. But since we were so keen to work together, we decided to device a way to still be a part of her special day! Over a period of three months, we designed her wedding in terms of the concept, look, spacial planning, and detailing of the props. We then sourced and custom made props and shipped them all the way to Arizona, USA. Deviki’s planner- Simaya was our local contact person there, and we executed the design on video calls!
MEHENDI
The Mehendi took place at Deviki’s Aunt’s home. The decor had kitsch details dotted all over with handmade props. The entrance had hundreds of colorful rajnigandha strings and strings of origami birds that made the tree super chirpy!
Pinwheels on beautiful bamboo arches circled around happily as they caught the wind. A photo booth was created with strings of silk marigold and Aztec embroidery rings. A cycle rickshaw owned by the family stood in front of this backdrop which was decorated with throws, tassels, and pompoms!
Indians love their chai! A Chit-Chaat corner was set up at the entrance serving tea under a vibrant canopy of buntings, with snacks and sweets on carts! A little bit of India all the way in Arizona!
Deviki’s ‘first’ sofa for her apartment was used for the bridal lounge! It was accessorized with some Kutch embroidery cushions and throws. The bridal backdrop had rings of marigold with cute little fabric bird and bow details.
Lunch was set under an existing pergola in the backyard. Tables were set under hand crafted elephant kaliras and colorful pompom strings. Kites were used as table mats here and fruits with flowers as centerpieces!
COCKTAIL
We kept a clean vibe for this Spanish Resort with gold sequins linen, red flower arrangements and lots of candles!
WEDDING
Set in a Gurudwara, we took inspiration for the decor from Deviki’s lehenga in shades of pinks and peaches. Oudh incense filled the air as guests entered the sacred place. Dotted in block prints and brocades the color lent beautifully to the wedding.
